Lorraine Shoaf is the president and owner of Shoaf and Associates, Inc., which was founded in 1991, after recognizing the need for a comprehensive service that would offer healthcare delivery research, assessment and analysis consulting to the medical and legal communities. Lorraine has been serving the medical-legal community for over twelve years and has over ten years of professional experience in medicine and quality assurance. As a legal nurse consultant, Lorraine is able to educate attorneys on the medical aspects of their cases and render her professional opinion, while maintaining an objective viewpoint. Lorraine also serves as a liaison between the legal and medical communities.
Shoaf and Associates has served a variety of attorneys across the United States, from California to Florida. A Legal Nurse Consultant is a collaborator and strategist offering the attorney informed, professional opinions on the delivery of healthcare and its resulting outcomes. In addition to reviewing legal cases for merit, summarizing medical records and retaining medical experts, Lorraine collaborates with attorneys and others involved in the legal process, to evaluate and analyze all aspects of medical-legal matters.
Lorraine received her bachelor of science degree in Nursing from San Diego State University in 1984 and has received extensive training in Legal Nurse Consulting. Lorraine has also spoken extensively, both in the Medical and Legal arenas. She has lectured at the Utah State Bar's Annual Conference, the Utah Trial Lawyer's semi-annual meetings and currently teaches at numerous legal-nurse training seminars. She has also served as the medical-legal liaison between the medical communities of Salt Lake City and Guatemala City, Guatemala, as well as the Utah Chapter of the American Nurses Association. Lorraine contributes to the community in a variety of ways including, active memberships and volunteer work with the National Association of Women Business Owners, the National Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, the National Girl's Club and a variety of Local Safety Associations for children in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jerri has been an associate legal nurse consultant with Shoaf and Associates, Inc., since 2001. She graduated with Honors from Central Texas College of Nursing in l985 and has over ten years of clinical nursing experience. Specializing in critical care and cardiac care, she also has clinical experience in medical/surgical, emergency, rehabilitation, orthopedic medicine, and nursing education. She was a Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse from 1992 to 1999. In addition to her services as a legal nurse consultant, Jerri is a qualified cardiac intensive care unit, and critical care nurse expert. Jerri served on the Advisory Committee for Nursing Practice to the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as a representative for Texas League of Nurses from 1993 to 1995. She has been active in nursing research and is a published author on maintaining peripheral intravenous sites. She has a strong speaking and teaching background and works well with all levels of medical and legal professionals.

Cherie Paulson has been an associate legal nurse consultant with Shoaf and Associates, Inc., since 2002. She has a diverse professional nursing background in the areas of education, case management, hospital and home health. As a legal nurse consultant, Cherie is able to assist attorneys in the interpretation of complex medical issues, educating them and rendering a professional opinion.
Cherie received her bachelor of science degree in Nursing from Goshen College in 1972. Cherie also spent three months in Honduras, working as a home health nurse in 1972. She has thirty one years of experience in a variety of settings, including ortho-rehab, pediatrics, respiratory intensive care and surgical intensive care. Also, she held supervisory positions, was an assistant clinical instructor for BSN nursing students in there junior and senior years. Cherie held the position as Director of Education for a hospital as well as working in utilization review and case management. Currently, Cherie works as a geriatric nurse consultant, and in the home health arena and insurance field.
